Alon received an Award of Excellence from Zefunot Culture on achieving first place in the Piano Forever Competition in Ashdod in 2012, in the 12-15 age group. He also received a scholarship in 2013.

BIOGRAPHY

Pianist Alon Kariv is one of the most distinguished young musicians of his native country, Israel. Since his early childhood, he won first prizes in all Israeli national piano competitions and performed throughout the country's most prestigious halls and series.

 

Kariv performed as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta and others; as well as with the other major Israeli orchestras, such as the Haifa Symphony, the Ashdod Symphony and the Ra'anana Symphonette.

 

Out of Israel, Alon Kariv collaborated with such eminent orchestras as the English Chamber Orchestra, the Slovenian Radio and Television Orchestra, Perugia Festival Orchestra among others. In New York he was presented at Lincoln Center and Merkin Hall and in Europe he was heard in the UK, Holland, Italy and Slovenia.

 

In June 2015 Alon won the third prize at the International Piano Competition in New York City's Kaufman Center. In August 2014 he won first prize at the "Tel Hai International Piano Master Classes" competition; and in October 2016 he was a top candidate at the 1st “Arthur Rubinstein Piano Competition” in Beijing.

 

From 2010-2016, Alon has been receiving a yearly scholarship of distinction from the American Israeli Cultural Foundation. In 2011, he was invited to perform in their festive gala concert in New York.

 

In 2014 Alon recorded Mozart's unfinished "Larghetto and Allegro for Two pianos and Orchestra" with the English Chamber Orchestra.  The recording will be released soon on the "Hyperion" label in London.

 

Alon has participated in many master classes with some of the world's greatest artists and pedagogues including Murray Perahia, Sergei Babayan, Arie Vardi, Alexander Korsantia, Tatiana Zelikmann, Garrick Olssohn and others.

 

Born in 1999 in Israel, Alon Kariv studied at the Juilliard School with Yoheved Kaplinsky and Julian Martin. Prior to his college studies, Alon studied at the “Thelma Yelin high school for the arts”. He has been studying piano since the age of 5, starting with Hanna Barzilay, until the age of 15, when he started studying with professor Tomer Lev, the head of the Tel Aviv music academy. Alon is continuing his studies at the Buchmann-Mehta school of music in Tel-Aviv university under the guidance of Prof. Tomer Lev.
